Northern Lights near Tromso (Norway)
This photo was taken during our one-week family vacation in Tromso (Northern Norway). After a beautiful but exhausting day of dog sledding, we gathered our energy in the evening to drive to a slightly darker spot a few kilometers away from the city. At -10 degrees Celsius, we waited for almost an hour without seeing anything. Additionally, the sky kept getting covered with larger patches of clouds. Just as we were considering going back, my son decided to aim his phone at a cloudless spot in the sky, and indeed, a very faint green glow was visible. So, we stayed, and gradually, the Northern Lights became stronger and visible to the naked eye, the clouds revealing more of the sky while a lingering twilight still glowed behind the mountains on the horizon. Eventually, the Aurora spanned the entire sky with its luminous band. An unforgettable experience!
